Perform neurosurgical procedures, including but not limited to, brain and spinal surgeries, with precision and expertise.
Provide exceptional care to patients during the night shift, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
Collaborate with other physicians and medical professionals to develop treatment plans and provide comprehensive care to patients.
Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements and technologies in neurosurgery, and incorporate them into practice as appropriate.
Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing them with information and support throughout their treatment.
Handle emergency situations with composure and make quick and accurate decisions to ensure the best possible outcome for patients.
Document all patient interactions and procedures accurately and thoroughly in medical records.
Participate in on-call schedules and respond promptly to emergency cases.
Mentor and educate medical students, residents, and fellows in neurosurgery techniques and procedures.
Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
Maintain a positive and professional attitude, and represent the hospital and neurosurgery department with integrity.
Continuously strive to improve patient care and outcomes through quality improvement initiatives and professional development opportunities.

Job Qualifications

Board Certification In Neurological Surgery: A Neurosurgery Nocturnist At Emory Healthcare Must Be Board Certified In Neurological Surgery By The American Board Of Neurological Surgery (Abns). This Certification Ensures That The Candidate Has Met Rigorous Standards In Training, Knowledge, And Experience In The Field Of Neurosurgery.
Fellowship Training In Neurocritical Care: Emory Healthcare Prefers Candidates With Fellowship Training In Neurocritical Care. This Specialized Training Equips The Nocturnist With The Skills And Knowledge To Manage Acute Neurological Emergencies And Critically Ill Patients.
Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience In Neurosurgery: Emory Healthcare Requires Candidates To Have A Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience In Neurosurgery. This Experience Should Include Working In A Busy And High-Volume Neurosurgery Department, Handling Complex Cases, And Managing Critically Ill Patients.
Ability To Work Night Shifts And Weekends: As A Nocturnist, The Candidate Must Be Willing And Able To Work Night Shifts And Weekends On A Rotating Basis. This Is A Crucial Requirement As The Nocturnist Is Responsible For Providing Overnight Coverage And Managing Emergent Neurosurgical Cases.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: A Neurosurgery Nocturnist At Emory Healthcare Must Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Work Effectively With Patients, Families, And Other Members Of The Healthcare Team. This Includes The Ability To Communicate Complex Medical Information In A Clear And Compassionate Manner, As Well As Collaborating With Other Physicians And Healthcare Professionals.
