Conduct diagnostic testing: Perform a variety of diagnostic tests, including culture and sensitivity testing, to accurately and efficiently diagnose infections and other microbiological conditions.
Utilize microbiology expertise: Use your specialized knowledge and skills in microbiology to perform tests and analyze results, ensuring accuracy and precision in all laboratory procedures.
Maintain laboratory equipment: Regularly calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure proper functioning and accurate results.
Ensure quality control: Follow established protocols and procedures to maintain high standards of quality control, accuracy, and precision in all laboratory testing.
Record and report results: Record all test results accurately and in a timely manner, and report any abnormal or critical results to the appropriate medical staff.
Maintain laboratory supplies: Monitor inventory levels and order necessary supplies to ensure uninterrupted laboratory operations.
Uphold safety standards: Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure the safety of yourself and others.
Collaborate with team members: Work collaboratively with other laboratory staff and healthcare professionals to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the laboratory.
Stay up to date with industry developments: Continuously expand knowledge and skills in microbiology and laboratory procedures by staying current with industry developments and advancements.
Provide excellent patient care: Demonstrate compassion, empathy, and professionalism when interacting with patients, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction with the laboratory services provided.

Job Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree In Microbiology Or Related Field: A Lab Tech Specialist In Microbiology At Emory Healthcare Should Possess A Strong Foundation In Microbiology Concepts And Techniques. A Bachelor's Degree In Microbiology Or A Related Field Is Typically Required For This Role.
Experience In A Clinical Laboratory Setting: Emory Healthcare Is A Leading Healthcare Organization, And Experience Working In A Clinical Laboratory Is Highly Desirable For A Lab Tech Specialist In Microbiology. This Experience Will Demonstrate An Understanding Of Laboratory Protocols, Quality Control, And Safety Procedures.
Knowledge Of Microbiology Instrumentation And Techniques: The Lab Tech Specialist Will Be Responsible For Performing A Variety Of Tests And Procedures Using Specialized Microbiology Instrumentation.
