As an ECMO Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing life-saving support for patients with severe respiratory or cardiac failure.   1. Provide life-saving ECMO support to patients with severe respiratory or cardiac failure.
  2. Monitor patients' vital signs and ECMO equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  3. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members to develop and implement ECMO treatment plans.
  4. Assess patients' response to ECMO therapy and make necessary adjustments to ensure optimal outcomes.
  5. Educate patients and their families on the purpose and use of ECMO therapy.
  6. Ensure proper handling and disposal of ECMO equipment and supplies.
  7. Document all patient care activities and maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
  8. Remain up-to-date on the latest ECMO technology and techniques.
  9. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
  10. Maintain a safe and clean work environment in accordance with infection control protocols.
  11. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare team members.
  12. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
  13. Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 coverage for ECMO patients.
  14. Attend continuing education and training programs to maintain and enhance skills.
  15. Serve as a resource and mentor for other healthcare team members.
  16. Provide compassionate and empathetic care to patients and their families during difficult and stressful situations.
  17. Adhere to ethical and legal standards of practice.
  18. Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  19. Adhere to safety protocols and report any safety hazards or incidents.
  20. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Or Respiratory Therapy: The First Qualification For An Ecmo Specialist Job At Emory Healthcare Is A Bachelor's Degree In Either Nursing Or Respiratory Therapy. This Educational Background Provides A Strong Foundation In Patient Care And Critical Care Practices.

  • Certification In Ecmo Or Critical Care: Emory Healthcare Requires Its Ecmo Specialists To Have A Certification In Ecmo Or Critical Care. This Ensures That The Candidate Has Received Specialized Training In The Use Of Ecmo And Is Knowledgeable In Critical Care Techniques.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Critical Care: To Be Considered For An Ecmo Specialist Job At Emory Healthcare, Candidates Must Have A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Critical Care Setting. This Experience Provides The Necessary Background In Managing Critically Ill Patients And Responding To Emergency Situations.

  • Acls And Bls Certification: Emory Healthcare Also Requires Its Ecmo Specialists To Have Current Certifications In Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Acls) And Basic Life Support (Bls). These Certifications Demonstrate A High Level Of Competency In Resuscitation Techniques And Emergency Care.
