- Oversee the management of all health information and records for the healthcare system.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for health information management in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality of all patient health information.
- Monitor and analyze trends and data related to health information management to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.
- Collaborate with other departments and healthcare providers to ensure smooth and efficient flow of health information.
- Lead and manage a team of health information management professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality work.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in health information management and recommend new technologies and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Train and educate staff on proper handling and management of health information.
- Ensure compliance with all HIPAA regulations and maintain the security and integrity of all health information.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, such as insurance companies and government agencies, for the exchange of health information.
- Represent the healthcare system in discussions and negotiations related to health information management.
- Prepare and present reports to senior management on the performance of the HIM department.

- Maintain a high level of customer service and patient satisfaction in all interactions.
- Adhere to all ethical standards and codes of conduct in the handling of sensitive health information.
Bachelor's Degree In Health Information Management Or Related Field: The Director Of Him At Emory Healthcare Should Have A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Health Information Management, Health Informatics, Or A Related Field. This Will Provide The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Effectively Manage The Him Department.
Certified Health Information Management (Chim) Or Registered Health Information Administrator (Rhia) Certification: Emory Healthcare Prefers Candidates Who Have Obtained The Chim Or Rhia Certification. This Certification Demonstrates Expertise In Managing Health Information Systems And Ensures Compliance With Industry Standards.
Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Health Information Management: The Director Of Him At Emory Healthcare Should Have At Least 5 Years Of Experience In A Leadership Role Within The Him Field. This Experience Should Include Managing Staff, Developing Policies And Procedures, And Overseeing Health Information Systems.
Strong Knowledge Of Healthcare Regulations And Compliance: Emory Healthcare Requires The Director Of Him To Have A Thorough Understanding Of Healthcare Regulations And Compliance, Including Hipaa, Hitech, And Other Relevant Laws. This Will Ensure That All Health Information At The Organization Is Managed And Protected In Accordance With Legal Requirements.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Director, The Him At Emory Healthcare Will Be Responsible For Collaborating With Various Departments, Communicating With Staff, And Interacting With Patients And Their Families. Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential To Effectively Fulfill These Responsibilities.
