Job Description

Eli Lilly and Company is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Patent Agent. As a Patent Agent, you will play a critical role in protecting our intellectual property and ensuring the success of our groundbreaking research and development projects.   1. Conduct thorough research to identify and analyze potential patent opportunities for our innovative medicines.
  2. Draft and file patent applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and other regulatory agencies.
  3. Work closely with scientists, attorneys, and other stakeholders to understand and protect our company's intellectual property.
  4. Stay up-to-date with industry and legal developments related to patent law and pharmaceuticals.
  5. Review and respond to office actions from the USPTO and other regulatory agencies.
  6. Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate searches to support our research and development projects.
  7. Collaborate with our legal team to prepare and defend patent litigation cases.
  8. Assist with patent portfolio management, including monitoring and maintaining existing patents.
  9. Communicate complex scientific and legal concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  10. Participate in internal and external trainings on patent law and best practices.
  11. Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  12. Actively contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.

Job Qualifications
  • Excellent Communication And Writing Skills, With The Ability To Draft And Prosecute Patent Applications.

  • A Bachelor's Degree In A Scientific Field Such As Chemistry, Biology, Or Engineering.

  • At Least 2 Years Of Experience In Patent Prosecution Or Related Field.

  • Strong Understanding Of Patent Law And Regulations, As Well As Experience With Patent Office Procedures.

  • Familiarity With The Pharmaceutical Industry And Knowledge Of Drug Development Processes.
