Job Description

At Elevance Health, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Director of Public Policy to join our Public Policy Institute. The successful candidate will be an independent thinker, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be committed to creating and advocating for policies that advance health equity.The Director of Public Policy is responsible for developing and executing effective public policy strategies to advance Elevance Health’s mission and goals. This position requires a broad knowledge of public health, policy, and advocacy, as well as an understanding of the policy and regulatory environment. The Director of Public Policy will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement policy solutions and will also represent Elevance Health in public forums and testify before Congress and other legislative bodies.The ideal candidate must have a Master’s degree in public policy, public health, or a related field, plus at least 8 years of relevant experience. Experience working with public health programs, policy organizations, and advocacy groups is a plus. The successful candidate must also demonstrate strong organizational skills, the ability to think critically and strategically, and the capacity to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and execute effective public policy strategies to advance Elevance Health’s mission and goals.
  2. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement policy solutions.
  3. Represent Elevance Health in public forums and testify before Congress and other legislative bodies.
  4. Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments related to public health and public policy.
  5. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the policy and advocacy community.
  6. Prepare written and verbal presentations to support policy initiatives.
  7. Develop and implement strategies to engage and educate the public about public health policy issues.
  8. Lead research and analysis to inform public policy initiatives.
  9. Develop and manage project timelines and budgets.
  10. Prepare reports and other documents to track progress of policy initiatives.
