Job Description

  1. Oversee the daily operations of the sterile processing department, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and guidelines.
  2. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective processing of medical equipment and supplies.
  3. Lead a team of sterile processing technicians, providing guidance and support in their daily tasks.
  4. Monitor and maintain inventory levels to ensure adequate supply of sterile equipment and supplies.
  5. Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure the quality and safety of all processed items.
  6. Collaborate with other departments, such as surgery and infection control, to ensure seamless and timely delivery of sterile supplies.
  7. Stay current on industry trends and advancements in sterile processing techniques, and implement best practices as appropriate.
  8. Train and educate staff on proper techniques for decontamination, sterilization, and packaging of medical equipment and supplies.
  9. Develop and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure the timely delivery of necessary supplies and equipment.
  10. Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and other stakeholders to address any concerns or issues related to sterile processing.
  11. Prepare and maintain department budget, including forecasting and cost-saving measures.
  12. Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and procedures, and promptly address any safety concerns or incidents.
  13. Collaborate with HR to recruit, hire, and train new sterile processing staff as needed.
  14. Promote a culture of continuous improvement, identifying and implementing strategies to increase efficiency and quality in the sterile processing department.
  15. Handle any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by senior management.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Healthcare Administration, Business Management, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Sterile Processing, With At Least 2 Years In A Leadership Or Management Role.

  • Certification In Sterile Processing And Distribution (Cspd) From A Recognized Organization Such As Iahcsmm Or Cbspd.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Sterilization Techniques, Infection Control, And Regulatory Requirements.

  • Excellent Communication, Organizational, And Problem-Solving Skills, With The Ability To Lead And Motivate A Team.

Duke University is a private research university in Durham, North Carolina. Founded by Methodists and Quakers in the present-day town of Trinity in 1838, the school moved to Durham in 1892.
