  1. Develop and implement strategic plans for academic and co-curricular programs to support the overall mission and goals of Duke University.
  2. Oversee and manage the budget for curricular and student affairs programs, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  3. Collaborate with faculty and staff to design and evaluate innovative and impactful curricular and co-curricular initiatives.
  4. Foster a diverse and inclusive community by promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of curricular and student affairs programs.
  5. Lead and supervise a team of program coordinators, providing guidance and support to ensure successful implementation of programs.
  6. Continuously assess and improve programs to meet the changing needs and interests of students.
  7. Oversee the coordination and execution of events and activities related to curricular and student affairs, including workshops, seminars, and conferences.
  8. Serve as a liaison between various departments and stakeholders to ensure alignment and collaboration in program development and implementation.
  9. Stay updated on current trends and best practices in higher education and incorporate them into program design and delivery.
  10. Represent Duke University and the curricular and student affairs programs at conferences, events, and meetings, both on and off campus.
  11. Ensure compliance with university policies and regulations in all aspects of program development and management.
  12. Maintain strong relationships with students, faculty, and staff to understand their needs and perspectives and incorporate them into program planning.
  13. Contribute to the recruitment and retention of students by promoting the unique and transformative educational experience offered at Duke University.
  14. Serve on committees and participate in university-wide initiatives to contribute to the overall success of Duke University.
  15. Maintain accurate records and produce reports on program outcomes and impact for internal and external stakeholders.

Job Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree In Higher Education Administration Or Related Field: A Program Director For Curricular & Student Affairs At Duke University Should Possess A Master's Or Doctoral Degree In Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Or A Related Field. This Advanced Degree Will Provide The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Effectively Manage The Curricular And Student Affairs Programs At The University.

  • Experience In Program Management And Leadership: The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 5-7 Years Of Experience In Program Management And Leadership In A Higher Education Setting. This Includes Experience In Developing, Implementing, And Evaluating Curricular And Student Affairs Programs.

  • Knowledge Of Best Practices In Student Development And Engagement: The Program Director Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Current Trends And Best Practices In Student Development And Engagement. This Includes A Deep Understanding Of Diversity, Equity, And Inclusion Principles And How To Incorporate Them Into Curricular And Student Affairs Programs.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: The Program Director Will Be Responsible For Working With A Diverse Group Of Stakeholders, Including Faculty, Staff, Students, And Community Partners. Therefore, Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential To Effectively Collaborate And Build Relationships With These Groups.

  • Budget And Financial Management Experience: The Program Director Should Have Experience In Budget And Financial Management, Including Developing And Managing Budgets For Curricular And Student Affairs Programs. This Includes The Ability To Identify Potential Funding Sources And Secure External Grants To Support Program Initiatives.

About Duke University

Duke University is a private research university in Durham, North Carolina. Founded by Methodists and Quakers in the present-day town of Trinity in 1838, the school moved to Durham in 1892. In 1924, tobacco and electric power industrialist James Buchanan Duke established The Duke Endowment and the institution changed its name to honor his deceased father, Washington Duke. Duke's campus spans over 8,600 acres (3,500 hectares) on three contiguous sub-campuses in Durham as well as a marine lab in Beaufort.
