  1. Prepare and dispense medications accurately and efficiently in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
  2. Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail when compounding medications.
  3. Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure proper handling and storage of medications.
  4. Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
  5. Keep accurate records, including medication inventory and patient information.
  6. Answer questions and provide information to patients and healthcare professionals regarding medications.
  7. Monitor medication supply levels and place orders as needed.
  8. Follow all state and federal laws and regulations related to pharmacy operations.
  9. Continuously update knowledge and skills in the field of pharmacy and compounding.
  10. Maintain a clean and organized workspace to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
  11. Communicate effectively with team members and contribute to a positive and collaborative work culture.
  12. Provide exceptional customer service to patients and healthcare professionals.
  13. Assist with training and mentoring new pharmacy technicians.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Pharmacy Technician At Duke University Must Have At Least A High School Diploma Or Its Equivalent To Be Considered For The Position. This Ensures A Basic Level Of Education And Understanding Necessary For The Job.

  • Certification And/Or Licensure: Duke University Prefers Candidates Who Are Nationally Certified By The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (Ptcb) Or Licensed By The State. This Demonstrates A Higher Level Of Knowledge, Skills, And Commitment To The Profession.

  • Compounding Experience: Previous Experience In Compounding Medications Is Highly Desirable For This Position. Candidates Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Compounding Techniques, Sterile And Non-Sterile Compounding, And How To Properly Handle And Store Compounded Medications.

  • Knowledge Of Drug Safety And Regulations: A Pharmacy Technician At Duke University Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Drug Safety And Regulations. This Includes Knowledge Of Controlled Substances, Drug Interactions, And Proper Handling And Disposal Of Medications.

  • Attention To Detail: Compounding Medications Requires A High Level Of Attention To Detail And Accuracy. Candidates Must Be Able To Follow Precise Instructions And Measurements, Maintain A Clean And Sterile Work Environment, And Have A Keen Eye For Potential Errors Or Discrepancies.

Duke University is a private research university in Durham, North Carolina. Founded by Methodists and Quakers in the present-day town of Trinity in 1838, the school moved to Durham in 1892.
