  1. Perform and oversee medical physics procedures, including radiation therapy treatment planning, quality assurance, and patient dosimetry.
  2. Collaborate with physicians, radiation therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and accurate delivery of radiation therapy treatments.
  3. Maintain and calibrate all radiation therapy equipment to ensure accurate and consistent treatment delivery.
  4. Monitor and analyze patient data to ensure treatment plans are effective and make adjustments as needed.
  5. Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in medical physics technology and techniques.
  6. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards for radiation therapy.
  7. Contribute to the development and implementation of new treatment techniques and protocols.
  8. Train and mentor junior medical physics staff, residents, and students.
  9. Participate in research projects and present findings at conferences or in scientific publications.
  10. Provide support and guidance to radiation oncologists and other healthcare professionals in understanding and applying medical physics principles.
  11. Maintain accurate records and documentation of all procedures and treatments.
  12. Communicate effectively with patients and their families to explain treatment plans and answer any questions or concerns.
  13. Adhere to ethical and professional standards in all aspects of work.
  14. Actively participate in department meetings and contribute to the overall success and growth of the medical physics team.
  15. Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Job Qualifications
  • Master's Or Doctoral Degree In Medical Physics From An Accredited Program.

  • Board Certification By The American Board Of Radiology In Either Therapeutic Medical Physics Or Diagnostic Medical Physics.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Clinical Experience In A Hospital Or Medical Center Setting.

  • Knowledge Of State-Of-The-Art Radiation Therapy Equipment And Treatment Planning Systems.

  • Strong Communication And Problem-Solving Skills, As Well As The Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Multidisciplinary Team.

About Duke University

Duke University is a private research university in Durham, North Carolina. Founded by Methodists and Quakers in the present-day town of Trinity in 1838, the school moved to Durham in 1892. In 1924, tobacco and electric power industrialist James Buchanan Duke established The Duke Endowment and the institution changed its name to honor his deceased father, Washington Duke. Duke's campus spans over 8,600 acres (3,500 hectares) on three contiguous sub-campuses in Durham as well as a marine lab in Beaufort.
