Welcome to Duke University's dining services team! We are seeking a passionate and experienced Lead Food Service Worker to join our dynamic and fast-paced environment. As the Lead Food Service Worker, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional food service to our university community. We are looking for someone who is dedicated, reliable, and has a strong commitment to customer satisfaction. If you have a love for food and enjoy leading a team, we would love to hear from you!

  1. Oversee and manage daily operations of the dining services team, including scheduling, training, and supervision of food service workers.
  2. Ensure compliance with all food safety and sanitation regulations, including proper handling, storage, and preparation of food items.
  3. Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction by providing prompt and friendly service, addressing any concerns or complaints, and ensuring proper communication with customers.
  4. Train and mentor new food service workers, providing guidance and support to ensure they are knowledgeable and capable of performing their duties effectively.
  5. Collaborate with other members of the dining services team to develop and implement new menu items, specials, and promotions that meet the needs and preferences of the university community.
  6. Monitor inventory levels and order necessary supplies, making sure to stay within budget and minimize waste.
  7. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment, including proper storage and rotation of food items, and regular cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
  8. Assist with food preparation and service during busy periods or as needed.
  9. Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate new ideas and techniques into the dining services menu and operations.
  10. Foster a positive and inclusive work culture, encouraging teamwork, open communication, and a strong work ethic among team members.
  11. Attend staff meetings and participate in ongoing training and development opportunities.
  12. Handle cash and credit transactions accurately and efficiently, following all cash handling procedures.
  13. Adhere to all university policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations related to food service and safety.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned by the dining services manager or other university officials.

Job Qualifications
