- Develop and implement infection control policies and procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential areas of concern and develop strategies for prevention and control.
- Collaborate with various departments and healthcare professionals to promote and maintain a culture of infection prevention and control.
- Educate and train staff on infection prevention protocols, including hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and proper cleaning and disinfection practices.
- Stay informed and up-to-date on current infection control guidelines and best practices, and adapt strategies accordingly.
- Investigate and respond to any potential outbreaks or incidents of infection, and develop and implement appropriate control measures.
- Act as a resource and consultant for staff, patients, and families regarding infection prevention and control.
- Monitor and analyze data related to healthcare-associated infections and provide regular reports to leadership.
- Collaborate with local health departments and other organizations to share information and best practices related to infection prevention and control.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development and implementation of infection control-related policies and procedures.
- Stay current on emerging infectious diseases and public health trends, and develop preparedness plans as needed.
- Maintain accurate and organized records related to infection control activities and communicate findings to appropriate stakeholders.
- Serve as a member of the hospital's infection control committee and provide expertise and recommendations for infection prevention and control initiatives.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to stay current in the field of infection prevention and control.
- Promote a positive and collaborative work environment and foster a culture of safety and accountability for infection prevention and control.
Bachelor's Degree In Nursing, Microbiology, Public Health, Or A Related Field.
Certification In Infection Prevention And Control, Such As From The Association For Professionals In Infection Control And Epidemiology (Apic).
Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience In Infection Prevention And Control, Preferably In A Hospital Or Healthcare Setting.
Knowledge Of Current Infection Prevention Guidelines And Best Practices, Including Those From The Centers For Disease Control And Prevention (Cdc) And The World Health Organization (Who).
Strong Communication And Leadership Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate With Various Healthcare Professionals And Lead Infection Control Initiatives At The Campus Level.
