  1. Receive incoming shipments of goods and materials and verify accuracy of contents against purchase orders and invoices.
  2. Organize and prioritize items for storage in designated locations on the dock.
  3. Maintain accurate inventory records and handle all necessary paperwork for incoming and outgoing shipments.
  4. Ensure timely and accurate distribution of goods and materials to various departments and locations on campus.
  5. Collaborate with other team members to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
  6. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines when handling and storing items on the dock.
  7. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dock area to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
  8. Communicate effectively with vendors, suppliers, and internal departments to address any shipment or inventory concerns.
  9. Assist with physical inventory counts and reconciliation to ensure accuracy of inventory records.
  10. Continuously monitor and report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to appropriate personnel.
  11. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance job knowledge and skills.
  12. Represent Duke University in a positive and professional manner at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: This Position Requires A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent, Demonstrating Basic Educational And Reading Comprehension Skills.

  • Prior Warehouse Or Dock Experience: Previous Experience In A Warehouse Or Dock Setting Is Preferred, As It Shows An Understanding Of The Physical Demands And Responsibilities Of The Job.

  • Ability To Operate Material Handling Equipment: Candidates Should Have Experience And Be Comfortable Operating Forklifts, Pallet Jacks, And Other Material Handling Equipment.

  • Strong Teamwork And Communication Skills: As A Dock Associate, The Ability To Work Well With A Team And Communicate Effectively Is Crucial To Successfully Completing Tasks And Ensuring Smooth Operations.

  • Basic Computer Skills: Proficiency In Basic Computer Skills, Such As Data Entry And Using Inventory Management Systems, Is Important For This Position To Accurately Track Shipments And Inventory.

About Duke University

Duke University is a private research university in Durham, North Carolina. Founded by Methodists and Quakers in the present-day town of Trinity in 1838, the school moved to Durham in 1892. In 1924, tobacco and electric power industrialist James Buchanan Duke established The Duke Endowment and the institution changed its name to honor his deceased father, Washington Duke.
