
Communications Specialist
The Duke University Communications Specialist is a critical role in our communications and public relations team. We are seeking an experienced and creative individual to share our story with the world. The ideal candidate will have the necessary qualifications and experience to help promote the university’s reputation through engaging content, excellent writing and editing skills, and a strong understanding of digital media. The right candidate will have a passion for building relationships and creating meaningful dialogue that highlights the university’s values and purpose.The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field, with at least five years of experience in the communications field. Candidates should also have a strong working knowledge of digital media and a proven record of developing successful content that engages and informs audiences. The ability to work collaboratively across departments and a strong commitment to working in a highly-matrixed organization is essential. Previous experience in a higher education environment is preferred.

Duke University is a private research university in Durham, North Carolina. Founded by Methodists and Quakers in the present-day town of Trinity in 1838, the school moved to Durham in 1892. In 1924, tobacco and electric power industrialist James Buchanan Duke established The Duke Endowment and the institution changed its name to honor his deceased father, Washington Duke.
