  1. Develop and implement sourcing and procurement strategies for capital and construction projects in alignment with the university's goals and objectives.
  2. Collaborate with various departments and vendors to identify cost-saving opportunities and negotiate contracts for goods and services.
  3. Conduct market research and analysis to stay informed of industry trends and best practices.
  4. Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods and services.
  5. Monitor and track vendor performance, ensuring compliance with contract terms and conditions.
  6. Identify and mitigate potential risks related to sourcing and procurement activities.
  7. Analyze and evaluate vendor proposals, including price, quality, and overall value to the university.
  8. Communicate and present sourcing and procurement strategies and recommendations to university leadership.
  9. Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to sourcing and procurement.
  10. Manage and maintain accurate records and documentation related to sourcing and procurement activities.
  11. Stay current on relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to sourcing and procurement.
  12. Train and mentor junior sourcing and procurement staff members.
  13. Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and procedures to increase efficiency and cost savings.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Strategic Sourcing And Supply Chain Management, Preferably In The Capital And Construction Industry.

  • Strong Understanding Of Procurement Processes, Contract Negotiations, And Vendor Management.

  • Excellent Communication, Collaboration, And Project Management Skills.

  • Knowledge Of Construction Project Management And Familiarity With Relevant Regulatory Requirements.

About Duke University

Duke University is a private research university in Durham, North Carolina. Founded by Methodists and Quakers in the present-day town of Trinity in 1838, the school moved to Durham in 1892. In 1924, tobacco and electric power industrialist James Buchanan Duke established The Duke Endowment and the institution changed its name to honor his deceased father, Washington Duke. Duke's campus spans over 8,600 acres (3,500 hectares) on three contiguous sub-campuses in Durham as well as a marine lab in Beaufort.
