Job Description

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join the Department of Pathology at Duke University as an Administrative Assistant. As the backbone of our department, you will play a critical role in providing administrative support to our team of pathologists, researchers, and staff.   1. Provide administrative support to the Department of Pathology team, including pathologists, researchers, and staff.
  2. Maintain and update department files, records, and databases.
  3. Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements for department members.
  4. Prepare and distribute department communications, such as memos, emails, and reports.
  5. Assist with creating and managing department budgets and expenses.
  6. Collaborate with other administrative assistants and team members to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  7. Serve as the first point of contact for inquiries and requests from internal and external stakeholders.
  8. Organize and coordinate department events and activities.
  9. Order and maintain office supplies and equipment.
  10. Conduct research and gather information as needed to support department projects and initiatives.
  11. Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  12. Proactively identify and recommend process improvements to enhance department efficiency.
  13. Perform general clerical duties, such as photocopying, faxing, and data entry.
  14. Assist with onboarding and training new department members.
  15. Uphold the values and mission of Duke University and the Department of Pathology.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In A Relevant Field Such As Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Or Medical Technology.

  • Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Administrative Experience, Preferably In A Healthcare Or Academic Setting.

  • Strong Organizational And Time-Management Skills, With The Ability To Prioritize Tasks And Manage Multiple Projects Simultaneously.

  • Excellent Communication Skills, Both Written And Verbal, With The Ability To Interact Professionally With Faculty, Staff, And Students.

  • Proficient Computer Skills, Including Knowledge Of Microsoft Office And Other Relevant Software Programs. Experience With Data Entry And Database Management Preferred.

About Duke University

Duke University is a private research university in Durham, North Carolina. Founded by Methodists and Quakers in the present-day town of Trinity in 1838, the school moved to Durham in 1892.
