
Safety & Health Specialist - Radiation Safety
At Duke University Health System, we are seeking an experienced Safety & Health Specialist - Radiation Safety to join our team and assist in enforcing our radiation safety program. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is committed to keeping our staff and patients safe.The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and evaluating radiation safety policies and procedures to ensure the safety of our staff, patients, and visitors. In addition to providing technical guidance and consultation on radiation safety activities, the Safety & Health Specialist - Radiation Safety will also be responsible for developing and presenting educational programs on radiation safety topics.The ideal candidate for this position will have a Bachelor's degree in a related field such as radiation safety, health physics, or occupational safety and health, and at least 5 years of experience in a radiation safety-related role. They must also have strong knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Responsibilities:
- Implement, monitor, and evaluate radiation safety policies and procedures to ensure the safety of staff, patients, and visitors.
- Provide technical guidance and consultation on radiation safety activities.
- Develop and present educational programs on radiation safety topics.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Maintain strong communication with staff, patients, and visitors.
- Work effectively in a team environment.
- Keep accurate records of radiation safety activities.
- Investigate radiation safety-related incidents and recommend corrective actions.
- Conduct periodic safety inspections and audits.
- Monitor radiation safety equipment and systems.
