Job Description

As an RN in our Pre/PostOp unit, you will play a vital role in the care and recovery of our patients.   1. Provide high quality nursing care to patients in the Pre/PostOp unit of DUKE Ambulatory Surgery Center.
  2. Welcome and greet patients, families, and visitors to the unit and ensure a comfortable and welcoming environment.
  3. Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and emotional needs in order to develop individualized care plans.
  4. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate and provide comprehensive care to patients.
  5. Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as ordered by physicians and monitor patients' responses to ensure optimal outcomes.
  6. Educate patients and their families on post-operative care and provide necessary discharge instructions.
  7. Monitor patients' vital signs, oxygen levels, and pain levels and take appropriate action as needed.
  8. Document all patient care activities accurately and thoroughly in the electronic medical record.
  9. Adhere to infection control, safety, and regulatory standards at all times.
  10. Act as a patient advocate by communicating and addressing any concerns or issues that may arise during their stay.
  11. Participate in ongoing educational and professional development activities to maintain and enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
  12. Maintain a professional and compassionate demeanor towards patients, families, and colleagues at all times.
  13. Collaborate with the healthcare team to identify areas for improvement and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  14. Assist in the orientation and training of new staff and students.
  15. Serve as a role model for nursing excellence and uphold the values and mission of Duke University Health System.

Job Qualifications
  • Current And Valid Rn License In The State Of North Carolina

  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing From An Accredited Institution

  • Bls And Acls Certification

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Pre/Postoperative Care At An Ambulatory Surgery Center Or Hospital Setting

  • Strong Communication And Critical Thinking Skills, With The Ability To Handle High-Stress Situations And Work In A Fast-Paced Environment.
