  1. Provide compassionate and skilled nursing care to patients in the hospice setting.
  2. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  3. Monitor and assess patient's physical and emotional well-being and report any changes or concerns to the interdisciplinary team.
  4. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  5. Educate patients and their families on disease processes, symptom management, and end-of-life care.
  6. Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient care.
  7. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
  8. Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of patient care plans.
  9. Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and their families during a difficult time.
  10. Continuously evaluate and improve the quality of care provided to patients.
  11. Stay updated on current hospice care practices and participate in professional development opportunities.
  12. Foster a supportive and collaborative work environment within the hospice team.
  13. Adhere to ethical and legal standards of nursing practice.
  14. Serve as an advocate for patients and their families.
  15. Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  16. Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a safe and clean environment for patients.
  17. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
  18. Handle sensitive and challenging situations with empathy and professionalism.
  19. Provide guidance and support to nursing assistants and other support staff.
  20. Represent Duke University Health System in a positive and professional manner.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing (Bsn) Or Higher From An Accredited Institution.

  • Current And Unrestricted Registered Nurse (Rn) License In The State Of North Carolina.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Clinical Experience In Hospice Or Home Health Care.

  • Certification In Hospice And Palliative Care Nursing (Chpn) Preferred.

  • Strong Communication, Critical Thinking, And Patient Care Skills.
