  1. Provide leadership and direction to the Head and Neck Service within the Radiation Oncology department.
  2. Utilize expertise and knowledge in radiation oncology to develop and implement effective treatment plans for patients with head and neck cancers.
  3. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including medical oncologists and surgeons, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for patients.
  4. Stay current on advancements and developments in the field of radiation oncology, particularly as it relates to head and neck cancers.
  5. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient cases and provide insights and recommendations.
  6. Communicate effectively with patients and their families, ensuring they are well-informed and involved in their treatment plans.
  7. Monitor patient progress and make necessary adjustments to treatment plans as needed.
  8. Maintain accurate and thorough medical records in compliance with regulatory standards.
  9. Participate in research and clinical trials to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and treatment options for head and neck cancers.
  10. Serve as a mentor and educator to medical students, residents, and fellows, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
  11. Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures in the delivery of radiation therapy.
  12. Demonstrate a commitment to providing compassionate and patient-centered care.
  13. Act as a liaison between the Radiation Oncology department and other departments within the Duke University Health System.
  14. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
  15. Maintain professional development by attending conferences, workshops, and other educational opportunities.

Job Qualifications
  • Medical Degree (Md Or Do) From An Accredited Institution: A Radiation Oncologist - Head And Neck Service At Duke University Health System Should Hold A Medical Degree From An Accredited Institution, Demonstrating A Strong Foundation In Academic And Clinical Medicine.

  • Board Certification In Radiation Oncology: Candidates Must Be Board Certified In Radiation Oncology By The American Board Of Radiology Or Equivalent Organization, Indicating A High Level Of Expertise And Knowledge In The Field.

  • Relevant Fellowship Training: As The Head And Neck Service Is A Specialized Area Within Radiation Oncology, Candidates Should Have Completed A Fellowship In Head And Neck Radiation Oncology Or A Related Field To Demonstrate Advanced Training And Expertise In This Area.

  • Active Medical License: Candidates Must Hold A Current, Unrestricted Medical License In The State Of North Carolina (Or Be Eligible For Licensure) To Practice As A Radiation Oncologist At Duke University Health System.

  • Strong Clinical And Research Background: The Ideal Candidate Will Have A Strong Track Record Of Clinical Excellence And Experience In Research, Including Publications In Peer-Reviewed Journals And Grant Funding. This Will Demonstrate Their Ability To Provide High-Quality Patient Care And Contribute To The Advancement Of The Field.
