  1. Provide exceptional patient care to individuals with complex neurological conditions in the Neuro ICU.
  2. Collaborate with the neurocritical care team and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans for patients.
  3. Perform physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and prescribe medications as needed.
  4. Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure an understanding of treatment plans and address any concerns.
  5. Document patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
  6. Stay current with advancements in the field of neurocritical care through continuing education and professional development opportunities.
  7. Maintain a strong work ethic and adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
  8. Serve as a resource for patients and their families, providing education and support throughout their treatment journey.
  9. Collaborate with other departments and specialties within the hospital to coordinate patient care.
  10. Participate in research and quality improvement initiatives to advance the field of neurocritical care.
  11. Adhere to all legal and ethical standards in patient care and maintain patient confidentiality.
  12. Proactively identify and address any potential patient safety concerns.
  13. Adhere to all infection control and safety protocols.
  14. Work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team to ensure a positive and efficient work environment.
  15. Continuously strive for excellence in patient care and contribute to the overall success of Duke University Health System.

Job Qualifications
  • Current Certification From The National Commission On Certification Of Physician Assistants (Nccpa).

  • Graduation From An Accredited Physician Assistant Program With A Master's Degree In Physician Assistant Studies.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience As A Physician Assistant In A Neuro Icu Setting.

  • Strong Background In Treating Neurocritical Care Patients, Including Specialized Skills In Diagnosing And Managing Complex Neurological Conditions.

  • Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Physicians, Nurses, And Other Healthcare Professionals In A Fast-Paced And High-Pressure Environment.
