  1. Perform advanced vitreoretinal surgeries on both pediatric and adult patients with a variety of complex conditions.
  2. Utilize cutting-edge medical technology and techniques to diagnose and treat vitreoretinal disorders.
  3. Collaborate with other members of the Ophthalmology Department to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans for patients.
  4. Provide compassionate and personalized care to patients and their families throughout their treatment journey.
  5. Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements and research in the field of vitreoretinal surgery and incorporate them into practice.
  6. Comply with all ethical and safety standards in patient care and surgical procedures.
  7. Educate patients and their families about their condition, treatment options, and post-operative care.
  8. Work closely with the administrative team to ensure efficient scheduling and coordination of surgeries.
  9. Mentor and supervise residents and fellows in the Ophthalmology Department.
  10. Participate in research studies and clinical trials to contribute to the advancement of the field.
  11. Collaborate with referring physicians and specialists to provide seamless and comprehensive care for patients.
  12. Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of protocols and guidelines.
  13. Maintain accurate and thorough medical records and documentation.
  14. Participate in professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  15. Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of Duke University Health System.

Job Qualifications
  • Medical Degree: The Candidate Must Have Completed A Doctor Of Medicine (Md) Or Doctor Of Osteopathic Medicine (Do) Degree From An Accredited Medical School.

  • Residency Training: The Candidate Must Have Completed A Residency Program In Ophthalmology And Be Board-Certified Or Eligible For Board Certification By The American Board Of Ophthalmology.

  • Fellowship Training: The Candidate Must Have Completed A Fellowship Program In Pediatric And Adult Vitreoretinal Surgery And Have Specialized Training In The Diagnosis And Treatment Of Vitreoretinal Conditions In Both Children And Adults.

  • Licensure: The Candidate Must Hold A Valid Medical License To Practice In The State Of North Carolina Or Be Eligible For Licensure By The Time Of Hire.

  • Experience: The Candidate Must Have A Minimum Of 5-7 Years Of Experience As A Practicing Vitreoretinal Surgeon, With A Strong Track Record Of Successful Outcomes And A High Level Of Proficiency In Surgical Techniques And Procedures. Experience Working In An Academic Medical Center Is Preferred.
