  1. Administering Anesthesia: The CRNA will be responsible for administering anesthesia to patients prior to surgery or medical procedures, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the process.
  2. Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine the appropriate type and dosage of anesthesia needed, taking into consideration medical history, allergies, and current medications.
  3. Monitoring Patient Vital Signs: Continuously monitor patient vital signs during anesthesia administration and adjust dosage as needed to maintain anesthesia levels and ensure patient safety.
  4. Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Work closely with surgeons, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized anesthesia plans for patients.
  5. Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of anesthesia administration and patient responses, including dosage amounts and vital signs.
  6. Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about anesthesia procedures, potential side effects, and post-operative care to ensure a smooth and safe recovery.
  7. Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergency situations during anesthesia administration, including airway management and CPR.
  8. Continuing Education: Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements and best practices in anesthesia care through ongoing education and training.
  9. Quality Control: Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and guidelines, while also participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
  10. Professionalism and Ethics: Maintain a high level of professionalism and adhere to ethical standards while interacting with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing: A Crna At Duke University Health System Must Possess A Bachelor Of Science In Nursing (Bsn) From An Accredited Institution.

  • Current Rn License: Candidates Must Hold A Current And Unrestricted Registered Nurse (Rn) License In The State Of North Carolina Or Be Eligible To Obtain One.

  • Advanced Practice Nursing Degree: Applicants Must Have A Master Of Science In Nursing (Msn) Or Doctor Of Nursing Practice (Dnp) Degree With A Specialization In Anesthesia.

  • National Certification: Candidates Must Hold Current Certification From The National Board Of Certification And Recertification For Nurse Anesthetists (Nbcrna).

  • Clinical Experience: A Minimum Of Two Years Of Full-Time Experience As A Registered Nurse In An Acute Care Setting Is Required. Additionally, Previous Experience In An Anesthesia-Related Field Is Preferred.
