- Administer Anesthesia: The primary responsibility of the Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) will be to safely administer anesthesia to patients undergoing surgical procedures or other medical treatments. This includes assessing patients' medical histories, determining appropriate anesthesia plans, and monitoring patients' vital signs throughout the procedure.
- Collaborate with Healthcare Team: The CRNA will work closely with physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible patient outcomes. This includes communicating effectively and collaborating on treatment plans, as well as providing support and assistance during procedures.
- Ensure Patient Safety: The CRNA will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of patients before, during, and after anesthesia administration. This includes monitoring patients' vital signs, responding to any adverse reactions, and making adjustments to anesthesia levels as needed.
- Maintain Clinical Standards: The CRNA will be expected to adhere to all clinical protocols and standards set by Duke University Health System. This includes staying up-to-date on current anesthesia practices, attending trainings and conferences, and following all safety and infection control procedures.
- Document and Record: Accurate and thorough documentation is crucial in healthcare settings. The CRNA will be responsible for completing all necessary paperwork, including patient records, anesthesia administration logs, and other documentation as required.
- Educate Patients: As a member of the healthcare team, the CRNA will also play a role in educating patients about their anesthesia options, potential risks and benefits, and any necessary post-procedure care. This may include answering questions, providing instructions, and offering emotional support.
- Participate in Quality Improvement: Duke University Health System is committed to constantly improving patient care and outcomes. The CRNA will be expected to participate in quality improvement activities, such as data collection and analysis, to help identify areas for improvement and implement changes as needed.

Master's Degree In Nurse Anesthesia From An Accredited Program
Current Crna Certification From The National Board Of Certification And Recertification For Nurse Anesthetists (Nbcrna)
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience As A Practicing Crna
Active And Unrestricted Rn License In The State Of North Carolina
Strong Clinical Skills And Knowledge In Anesthesia Techniques, Patient Assessment, And Pain Management.
