Job Description

Are you an experienced and detail-oriented Medical Records Coder looking for an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of patients? Duke University Health System is looking for an Inpatient Medical Records Coder to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately analyzing and coding medical records in accordance with established coding guidelines and regulations. You will be part of a diverse team of healthcare professionals dedicated to providing outstanding patient care and service.To be successful in this role, you should have a comprehensive understanding of coding regulations and experience with coding software. You should also be highly organized and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Responsibilities:

  1. Analyze medical records and accurately code them in accordance with established coding guidelines and regulations.
  2. Utilize coding software to ensure accuracy of coding.
  3. Maintain knowledge of current coding regulations and updates.
  4. Work collaboratively with a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
  5. Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and other healthcare staff.
  6. Maintain organization of medical records and documents.
  7. Follow all HIPAA regulations and guidelines.
  8. Ensure accuracy and completeness of all coding.
  9. Assist with medical record audits as needed.
  10. Provide support and assistance to other departments in the organization as required.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology

  • Certified Coding Specialist (Ccs) Or Certified Professional Coder (Cpc) Certification

  • Two Years Of Long-Term Acute Care Or Inpatient Hospital Coding Experience

  • Knowledge Of Icd--Cm/Pcs Coding

  • Anatomy And Physiology

  • Ability To Apply Coding Guidelines To Appropriate Diagnoses And Procedures

  • Knowledge Of Medical Coding Software And Computer Applications
