Job Description

The Duke University Health System is looking for a passionate and experienced Medical Lab Scientist - Point of Care Testing to join our team. We are the leading provider of comprehensive healthcare services in the Durham area and have been serving the community for more than 100 years. To be successful in this position, you will need to have a thorough understanding of the principles and practices of medical laboratory science and possess excellent communication and organizational skills. The ideal candidate will have experience in point-of-care testing and demonstrate a commitment to providing quality patient care. Responsibilities:

  1. Perform point-of-care testing accurately and efficiently to diagnose, monitor, and treat patients.
  2. Use medical laboratory science principles and practices to analyze and interpret test results.
  3. Maintain a safe and hygienic work environment in accordance with established guidelines.
  4. Follow established protocols and procedures for specimen collection, processing, and testing.
  5. Utilize laboratory equipment and software systems to obtain accurate test results.
  6. Provide quality patient care by adhering to all required standards and regulations.
  7. Communicate test results to physicians and other healthcare personnel.
  8. Participate in educational activities and in-service training to stay up to date on new developments in the medical field.
  9. Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.
  10. Maintain accurate documentation of test results and patient care activities.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Medical Laboratory Science

  • Certification As A Medical Laboratory Scientist By The American Society Of Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or Equivalent

  • Experience In Point-Of-Care Testing (Poct) In A Clinical Laboratory Setting

  • Ability To Troubleshoot Poct Devices

  • Working Knowledge Of Medical Laboratory Regulations And Standards

  • Ability To Recognize And Troubleshoot Potential Errors In Poct Results

  • Proficient In Basic Computer
