  1. Perform a variety of laboratory tests, procedures, and analyses accurately and efficiently.
  2. Follow established protocols and procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
  3. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation, troubleshoot issues as needed.
  4. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols to maintain a safe working environment for staff and patients.
  5. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all laboratory activities, including test results, quality control measures, and instrument maintenance.
  6. Identify and troubleshoot any technical or analytical issues that may arise during testing.
  7. Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure timely and accurate communication of laboratory results.
  8. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist with implementing new procedures and protocols.
  9. Stay current with new developments and advancements in laboratory science and technology.
  10. Provide excellent customer service to patients and their families, addressing any concerns or questions they may have regarding laboratory tests and procedures.
  11. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.
  12. Train and mentor new laboratory staff and students, as needed.
  13. Maintain a clean and organized work area, restock and reorder supplies as necessary.
  14. Continuously assess and improve processes to increase efficiency and accuracy in laboratory testing.
  15. Demonstrate a commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Duke University Health System.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Medical Laboratory Science Or Related Field

  • Ascp Certification As A Medical Laboratory Scientist (Mls)

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Clinical Laboratory Setting

  • Knowledge Of Laboratory Procedures, Equipment, And Quality Control Measures

  • Ability To Work Independently And Collaboratively In A Fast-Paced, High Volume Environment
