Medical Lab Scientist

The Duke University Health System is searching for an experienced Medical Lab Scientist to join our team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality laboratory services for our patients, while working within our diverse and highly collaborative team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced professional to join a leading healthcare institution.The ideal candidate will have a B.S. degree in Medical Laboratory Science, as well as a current certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent. An advanced degree or additional relevant certifications is a plus. The successful candidate must be able to quickly learn and adapt to new technology and procedures, as well as demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform laboratory tests and related procedures accurately and in a timely manner.
2. Maintain equipment and supplies, as well as follow all safety and regulatory protocols.
3. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of laboratory results.
4. Follow laboratory protocols and procedures to ensure patient safety and satisfaction.
5. Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
6. Work collaboratively with the medical staff to ensure optimal patient care.
7. Utilize laboratory information systems to track results and report findings.
8. Provide education and training to other staff members on laboratory procedures and protocols.
9. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to ensure best practices in laboratory procedures.
10. Remain current on new procedures and technologies related to the field of medical laboratory science.
