We are currently seeking a Financial Care Counselor for our Emergency Department at the Duke Regional Hospital location. As a Financial Care Counselor, you will play a crucial role in helping patients navigate the complex world of healthcare finances. The ideal candidate will have a background in healthcare financial counseling and a passion for helping others.   1. Provide compassionate and comprehensive financial counseling services to patients and their families in the Emergency Department at Duke Regional Hospital.
  2. Assist patients in understanding their healthcare bills and insurance coverage.
  3. Educate patients on available financial assistance programs and help them navigate the application process.
  4. Communicate with insurance companies, government agencies, and other third-party payers to resolve billing and payment issues.
  5. Work closely with clinical staff to ensure accurate and timely documentation of financial counseling services.
  6. Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations when handling sensitive patient information.
  7. Collaborate with community resources and organizations to identify additional financial assistance options for patients.
  8. Keep up-to-date with changing healthcare laws and regulations related to financial counseling.
  9. Handle patient inquiries and concerns regarding their healthcare bills and provide excellent customer service.
  10. Accurately document all patient interactions and financial counseling services in the electronic medical record.
  11. Participate in staff meetings and trainings to stay informed about departmental policies and procedures.
  12. Maintain a positive and professional demeanor when interacting with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
  13. Continuously evaluate and improve financial counseling processes to ensure high-quality services are being provided.
  14. Adhere to all ethical and professional standards in the performance of job duties.
  15. Support the overall mission and values of Duke University Health System in providing exceptional care to our community.

Job Qualifications
