- Provide compassionate and comprehensive financial counseling services to patients and their families in the Emergency Department at Duke Regional Hospital.
- Assist patients in understanding their healthcare bills and insurance coverage.
- Educate patients on available financial assistance programs and help them navigate the application process.
- Communicate with insurance companies, government agencies, and other third-party payers to resolve billing and payment issues.
- Work closely with clinical staff to ensure accurate and timely documentation of financial counseling services.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations when handling sensitive patient information.
- Collaborate with community resources and organizations to identify additional financial assistance options for patients.
- Keep up-to-date with changing healthcare laws and regulations related to financial counseling.
- Handle patient inquiries and concerns regarding their healthcare bills and provide excellent customer service.
- Accurately document all patient interactions and financial counseling services in the electronic medical record.
- Participate in staff meetings and trainings to stay informed about departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor when interacting with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
- Continuously evaluate and improve financial counseling processes to ensure high-quality services are being provided.
- Adhere to all ethical and professional standards in the performance of job duties.

Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills.
Bachelor's Degree In Finance, Accounting, Or Related Field.
Previous Experience In Financial Counseling Or Healthcare Billing.
Strong Knowledge Of Insurance Policies And Procedures.
Ability To Analyze Financial Data And Provide Recommendations For Improved Financial Management.
