  1. Oversee and manage all operations of the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory at Duke University Health System.
  2. Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and guidelines related to clinical microbiology testing.
  3. Develop and implement policies and procedures for the laboratory, including quality control measures and proficiency testing.
  4. Provide leadership and direction to laboratory staff, including training, performance evaluations, and professional development.
  5. Collaborate with other departments and teams within the institution to ensure efficient and effective delivery of healthcare services.
  6. Stay current with advancements in clinical microbiology and incorporate new techniques and technologies into laboratory operations.
  7. Monitor and maintain inventory levels of laboratory supplies and equipment.
  8. Conduct and oversee research initiatives related to clinical microbiology, including data collection, analysis, and publication.
  9. Communicate with healthcare providers and other stakeholders to provide expert consultation on laboratory testing and results.
  10. Maintain accurate and complete records of laboratory activities, including test results, quality control data, and personnel records.
  11. Participate in departmental meetings and committees to contribute to the overall goals and objectives of the institution.
  12. Act as a liaison between the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory and other departments, promoting collaboration and effective communication.
  13. Foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the laboratory, promoting a safe and efficient work environment.
  14. Adhere to all ethical and professional standards in all aspects of job performance.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Clinical Microbiology.

Job Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree In Microbiology, Medical Technology, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In A Clinical Microbiology Laboratory Setting.

  • Certification By The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or Equivalent Organization.

  • Strong Leadership Skills And Experience In Managing A Team Of Laboratory Staff.

  • In-Depth Knowledge Of Laboratory Operations, Quality Control, And Regulatory Compliance.
