- Receive and accession patient specimens according to established protocols and procedures.
- Verify accuracy of patient information and specimen labeling.
- Process and prepare specimens for testing and analysis.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Follow standardized procedures for handling, storing, and disposing of specimens.
- Perform quality control checks to ensure accuracy and precision of results.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all specimens processed.
- Communicate any issues or discrepancies with specimens to appropriate personnel.
- Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.
- Collaborate with other laboratory staff to ensure timely and efficient processing of specimens.
- Assist in training and mentoring new staff members.
- Stay updated on current laboratory procedures and technology.

High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Educational Requirement For A Specimen Processor At Deaconess Health System Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures A Basic Level Of Education And Understanding Of General Healthcare Practices.
Prior Experience In A Laboratory Setting: Candidates With Prior Experience In A Laboratory Or Medical Setting Will Be Preferred For The Specimen Processor Position. This Experience Shows An Understanding Of Laboratory Protocols And Procedures.
Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: A Strong Knowledge Of Medical Terminology Is Essential For A Specimen Processor To Accurately Identify And Process Different Types Of Specimens. This Includes Understanding The Various Abbreviations And Codes Used In A Laboratory Setting.
