
Registered Nurse - Vascular Access Team

- Provide compassionate and skilled patient care through the placement and management of vascular access devices.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the Vascular Access Team to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
- Utilize knowledge and expertise in vascular access to assess patient needs and determine appropriate treatment plans.
- Monitor and maintain the function and integrity of vascular access devices, including but not limited to central lines, peripheral IVs, and arterial lines.
- Educate patients and their families on the purpose, care, and potential complications of their vascular access devices.
- Follow all hospital policies, procedures, and protocols related to vascular access care.
- Document all patient care activities accurately and thoroughly in medical records.
- Communicate effectively with physicians and other healthcare team members to provide comprehensive and coordinated care.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain and enhance knowledge and skills in vascular access care.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment and adhere to infection control standards.
- Demonstrate a commitment to patient satisfaction and quality improvement.
- Serve as a role model for professionalism and excellence in patient care.
- Adhere to ethical and legal standards of nursing practice.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Vascular Access Team leader or hospital administration.
Valid Rn License: The First And Foremost Qualification For A Registered Nurse In The Vascular Access Team At Deaconess Health System Is A Valid And Current Rn License. This Ensures That The Nurse Has Completed The Necessary Educational And Training Requirements To Practice As A Professional Nurse.
Vascular Access Certification: Deaconess Health System Prefers Candidates With A Vascular Access Certification, Such As The Vascular Access Board Certification (Va-Bc) Or The Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (Crni). This Certification Demonstrates A Specialized Knowledge And Expertise In Vascular Access Procedures And Techniques.
Previous Experience In Vascular Access: Candidates With Previous Experience In Vascular Access Procedures And Techniques Are Preferred For This Role. This Could Include Experience In Placing And Maintaining Central Lines, Picc Lines, Or Other Vascular Access Devices.
Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills: As Part Of The Vascular Access Team, The Registered Nurse Should Have Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills. They Will Be Working Closely With Other Healthcare Professionals, Including Physicians, To Coordinate And Manage Patient Care.
Attention To Detail And Critical Thinking: Vascular Access Procedures Require Precision And Attention To Detail To Avoid Potential Complications. The Ideal Candidate Should Have Strong Critical Thinking Skills To Assess And Troubleshoot Potential Issues During Procedures, As Well As The Ability To Identify And Address Any Changes In A Patient's Condition.
