
Registered Nurse - Surgery Oncology

- Provide high-quality and compassionate nursing care to patients undergoing surgical and oncology treatments.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Monitor and assess patient's condition before, during, and after surgery and chemotherapy.
- Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as ordered by physicians.
- Educate patients and their families about their condition, treatment options, and post-operative care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including medical history, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Ensure proper functioning of medical equipment and report any malfunctions or issues to the appropriate department.
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and provide input on patient care plans.
- Continuously improve clinical skills and knowledge through ongoing education and training opportunities.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in accordance with HIPAA regulations and hospital policies.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to promote a positive patient experience.
- Respond to emergencies and provide immediate and appropriate care to patients in critical situations.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure a seamless and coordinated approach to patient care.
Valid Rn License In The State Of Indiana: This Is A Necessary Qualification For Any Registered Nurse Position At Deaconess Health System. The Candidate Must Hold A Current And Valid Rn License In The State Of Indiana.
Bachelor's Degree In Nursing (Bsn): Deaconess Health System Prefers Candidates With A Bsn Degree. This Ensures That The Candidate Has The Necessary Education To Provide High-Quality Care In A Surgical Oncology Setting.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Surgical Oncology: Deaconess Health System Requires Candidates To Have A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Surgical Oncology Setting. This Ensures That The Candidate Is Familiar With The Complexities Of Caring For Cancer Patients.
Oncology Certified Nurse (Ocn) Certification: Deaconess Health System Prefers Candidates Who Are Certified As An Oncology Certified Nurse (Ocn). This Certification Demonstrates The Candidate's Specialized Knowledge And Skills In Caring For Cancer Patients.
Bls And Acls Certification: The Registered Nurse Must Hold Current Basic Life Support (Bls) And Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Acls) Certifications. These Certifications Are Necessary For Providing Emergency Care In A Surgical Oncology Setting.
