Job Description

We are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our team. As a Phlebotomist at Deaconess, you will play a crucial role in our patient care by collecting and preparing blood samples for testing and analysis.   1. Perform phlebotomy procedures on patients of all ages, utilizing proper techniques and safety measures.
  2. Greet and welcome patients in a friendly and professional manner, while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
  3. Verify patient information, explain procedures, and answer any questions or concerns.
  4. Prepare and label blood samples accurately and efficiently, ensuring proper documentation and tracking.
  5. Handle and process samples according to established protocols and procedures.
  6. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper disposal of hazardous materials.
  7. Adhere to all infection control and safety standards to minimize risk of contamination.
  8. Communicate effectively and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate testing and results.
  9. Maintain inventory and stock of supplies, and notify appropriate personnel of any shortages or expired items.
  10. Provide exceptional customer service and maintain a positive and compassionate attitude towards patients and their families.
  11. Keep up-to-date with industry developments and new techniques, and attend relevant training and education sessions to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor, such as assisting with data entry, scheduling appointments, or providing support to other departments.
  13. Uphold the mission and values of Deaconess Health System and contribute to maintaining a positive and supportive work environment.

Job Qualifications
  • Certification: All Applicants For The Phlebotomist Position At Deaconess Health System Must Hold A Valid Certification From An Accredited Phlebotomy Program.

  • Experience: A Minimum Of 1 Year Of Experience As A Phlebotomist Is Required For This Position. Previous Experience In A Hospital Or Healthcare Setting Is Preferred.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: The Ideal Candidate Should Possess A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology, Including Common Laboratory Tests, Procedures, And Equipment.

  • Attention To Detail: As Accuracy And Precision Are Critical In Phlebotomy, Candidates Must Possess Strong Attention To Detail And The Ability To Follow Strict Protocols And Procedures.

  • Communication Skills: Effective Communication Is Essential In This Role, As Phlebotomists Must Be Able To Interact Professionally With Patients, Colleagues, And Other Healthcare Professionals. Strong Verbal And Written Communication Skills Are Required.
