- Perform ultrasound scans on pregnant patients to monitor fetal development and detect any abnormalities.
- Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and calibrated for accurate results.
- Educate patients on the ultrasound process and answer any questions or concerns they may have.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care for pregnant patients.
- Accurately record and document ultrasound findings and communicate them to the patient's healthcare provider.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety during ultrasound procedures.

Formal Education And Training: A Perinatal Sonographer Should Have A Minimum Of An Associate's Degree In Diagnostic Medical Sonography Or A Related Field From An Accredited Institution. They Should Also Have Completed Specialized Training In Obstetric And Gynecologic Sonography.
Certification: Candidates Should Have Certification From The American Registry For Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ardms) As A Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (Rdms) In Obstetrics And Gynecology. This Certification Ensures That The Candidate Has Met The Standard Requirements For Knowledge And Skills In The Field.
Experience: Deaconess Health System Seeks Candidates With At Least 2 Years Of Experience As A Perinatal Sonographer. This Experience Should Include Performing Obstetric And Gynecologic Ultrasound Procedures, As Well As Experience With High-Risk Pregnancies And Fetal Anomaly Scans.
Knowledge Of Perinatal Sonography Procedures: Candidates Should Have A Comprehensive Understanding Of Perinatal Sonography Procedures, Including Fetal Growth And Development, Fetal Biometry, And Doppler Ultrasound. They Should Also Have Knowledge Of Various Fetal Abnormalities And Their Diagnosis Through Ultrasound.
Communication And Interpersonal Skills: A Perinatal Sonographer Should Have Excellent Communication Skills To Effectively Interact With Patients, Colleagues, And Other Healthcare Professionals. They Should Also Possess Strong Interpersonal Skills To Provide Emotional Support And Reassurance To Patients During The Ultrasound Procedure.
