- Greet and welcome patients and their families in a warm and friendly manner.
- Ensure a smooth and efficient patient intake process by accurately and efficiently collecting patient information.
- Verify patient insurance and obtain necessary authorizations.
- Communicate with patients and their families to gather necessary medical information and update records as needed.
- Provide exceptional customer service by answering any questions or concerns patients may have.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and follow HIPAA guidelines.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely patient intake.
- Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and maintaining patient records.
- Keep track of inventory and order necessary supplies for the patient intake process.
- Continuously update knowledge and skills related to patient intake processes and procedures.
- Follow all safety and infection control protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Handle difficult or sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
- Assist with training and mentoring new patient intake specialists as needed.
- Report any issues or concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Provide feedback and suggestions for process improvement to enhance the patient experience.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Education Requirement For A Patient Intake Specialist I Position At Deaconess Health System Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent.
Previous Healthcare Experience: Candidates Should Have Previous Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting, Such As A Hospital, Clinic, Or Medical Office. This Experience Could Include Roles Such As Medical Receptionist, Medical Secretary, Or Patient Intake Coordinator.
Excellent Communication Skills: A Patient Intake Specialist I Must Have Strong Verbal And Written Communication Skills To Effectively Interact With Patients, Healthcare Staff, And Other Stakeholders. This Includes The Ability To Communicate Clearly And Compassionately With Patients Who May Be In Distress Or Facing Difficult Situations.
Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: A Basic Understanding Of Medical Terminology Is Necessary For A Patient Intake Specialist I To Accurately Collect And Record Patient Information. This Knowledge May Be Gained Through Previous Work Experience Or Through Specialized Training.
Proficiency In Computer Systems: The Ability To Navigate And Use Electronic Health Record Systems And Other Computer Programs Is A Key Qualification For This Role. A Patient Intake Specialist I Must Be Comfortable Using Technology To Input And Retrieve Patient Data, Schedule Appointments, And Perform Other Administrative Tasks.
