
Patient Care Technician - Observation (PCT)

- Provide direct patient care: As a Patient Care Technician, you will be responsible for assisting patients with their daily needs, including bathing, grooming, and toileting. You will also be responsible for taking vital signs, monitoring patients' conditions, and reporting any changes to the nursing staff.
- Collaborate with healthcare team: In this role, you will work closely with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated and comprehensive care to patients. You will communicate important information about patients' conditions and assist with implementing care plans.
- Maintain patient safety: As a member of the observation unit, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our patients at all times. This includes following infection control protocols, preventing falls, and responding to emergencies.
- Assist with procedures: You will have the opportunity to work alongside physicians and nurses to assist with various medical procedures. This may include setting up equipment, preparing patients for procedures, and providing support during the process.
- Document patient information: Accurate and timely documentation is a crucial aspect of patient care. In this role, you will be responsible for documenting patient information, including vital signs, medications administered, and any changes in their condition.
- Provide emotional support: Our patients may be going through difficult times, and it is important to provide them with emotional support. As a Patient Care Technician, you will be expected to listen to patients' concerns, offer comfort and reassurance, and provide a compassionate presence.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment: You will be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized patient care area, including stocking supplies and equipment, as well as cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms.
- Adhere to hospital policies and procedures: As a representative of Deaconess Health System, you will be expected to follow all hospital policies and procedures, including those related to patient care, safety, and confidentiality.

High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Typically Required For A Patient Care Technician - Observation (Pct) Position At Deaconess Health System. This Ensures That Candidates Have Basic Educational Qualifications To Understand Medical Terminology And Perform Routine Tasks.
Certified Nursing Assistant (Cna) Certification: Deaconess Health System May Require Candidates To Have A Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (Cna) Certification. This Certification Confirms That The Candidate Has Received Formal Training In Patient Care And Is Competent In Basic Nursing Skills.
Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Such As A Hospital Or Nursing Home, Is Preferred For A Pct Position At Deaconess Health System. This Experience Demonstrates An Understanding Of The Healthcare Environment And Familiarity With Patient Care Processes.
Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification: Pcts At Deaconess Health System May Be Required To Have A Current Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification. This Certification Shows That The Candidate Has Received Training In Life-Saving Techniques And Is Prepared To Respond To Emergency Situations.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Patient Care Technicians Must Have Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Interact With Patients, Their Families, And Healthcare Professionals.
