  1. Review and analyze patient medical records to identify areas for improvement in clinical documentation.
  2. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to obtain accurate and complete documentation of patient diagnoses, procedures, and treatments.
  3. Educate healthcare staff on the importance of accurate and complete clinical documentation and provide training on best practices.
  4. Use coding guidelines and official coding conventions to assign appropriate codes for patient diagnoses and procedures.
  5. Conduct regular audits of clinical documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  6. Develop and implement strategies to improve clinical documentation processes and outcomes.
  7. Communicate with coding and billing teams to ensure accurate coding and proper reimbursement for services provided.
  8. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding and documentation guidelines, regulations, and changes in the healthcare industry.
  9. Serve as a resource for healthcare providers regarding documentation and coding guidelines.
  10. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and provide suggestions for enhancing the overall quality of patient care.
  11. Utilize critical thinking skills to identify potential risks and opportunities for improvement in clinical documentation.
  12. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement solutions for clinical documentation issues.
  13. Adhere to all confidentiality and privacy policies and procedures related to patient information.
  14. Maintain accurate documentation and provide reports on clinical documentation improvement activities.
  15. Continuously evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of clinical documentation improvement processes and make recommendations for improvement.

Job Qualifications
  • Active Rn License In The State Of Employment.

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Of Acute Care Nursing Experience.

  • Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (Ccds) Or Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (Cdip) Preferred.

  • Knowledge Of Icd-10 Coding And Drg Assignment.

  • Strong Communication And Critical Thinking Skills To Collaborate With Interdisciplinary Healthcare Team.
