
Cancer Registrar

We are currently seeking a Cancer Registrar to join our team and play a vital role in our comprehensive cancer program. As a Cancer Registrar, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely collection, maintenance, and reporting of cancer data. - Collect and maintain accurate and timely cancer data in compliance with established registry standards and guidelines.
- Conduct thorough reviews of medical records to identify cancer cases and record pertinent information.
- Ensure all data is entered into the cancer registry database accurately and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and other team members to obtain missing or incomplete data.
- Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and submit required reports to state and national cancer registries.
- Serve as a resource for physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding cancer data and reporting requirements.
- Stay current with changes in cancer registry standards and guidelines and implement necessary updates.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in cancer committee meetings and provide data analysis and reports as needed.
- Assist with cancer research projects and studies as requested.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and make recommendations to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the cancer registry.
- Attend educational workshops and conferences to stay current with developments in cancer registry practices.
- Act as an advocate for cancer patients and their families by ensuring accurate and complete cancer data for treatment planning and research.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment by working closely with other team members and demonstrating a commitment to the organization’s mission and values.
Certified Tumor Registrar (Ctr) Certification: Applicants Should Possess A Valid Ctr Certification From The National Cancer Registrars Association (Ncra) Or The American Health Information Management Association (Ahima). This Certification Ensures That The Candidate Has Demonstrated Competency In All Aspects Of Cancer Registry Operations.
Strong Knowledge Of Cancer Coding And Staging: As A Cancer Registrar, Candidates Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of The International Classification Of Diseases For Oncology (Icd-O) Coding System And The Collaborative Stage Data Collection System. They Should Also Be Well-Versed In Cancer Staging Methodologies And The Ability To Accurately Stage Different Types Of Cancer.
Experience With Cancer Registry Software: Familiarity With Electronic Health Record (Ehr) Systems And Cancer Registry Software Such As Coc Datalinks And Cancer Registry Management System (Crms) Is Essential For This Role. Candidates Should Be Able To Navigate And Efficiently Utilize These Systems To Maintain Accurate And Complete Cancer Data.
Attention To Detail: The Role Of A Cancer Registrar Requires Meticulous Attention To Detail To Ensure The Accuracy And Completeness Of Cancer Data. Candidates Should Have Excellent Organizational Skills And Be Able To Identify And Correct Errors In Medical Records And Other Data Sources.
Knowledge Of Cancer Reporting Requirements: Cancer Registrars Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of The State And Federal Reporting Requirements For Cancer Data. This Includes Knowledge Of The National Program Of Cancer Registries (Npcr) And The Surveillance, Epidemiology, And End Results (Seer) Program, As Well As Any State-Specific Reporting Requirements.
