Job Description

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with the Category Manager to develop and execute strategies for driving sales and profitability within the category.   1. Collaborate with Category Manager to develop and implement category strategies that align with company objectives.
  2. Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify trends, customer preferences, and competitive landscape within the general merchandise category.
  3. Monitor sales and profitability data to make data-driven decisions and recommendations for product assortment, pricing, and promotions.
  4. Build and maintain relationships with vendors to negotiate favorable terms and ensure timely delivery of products.
  5. Assist in the development and execution of promotional plans to drive sales and increase customer engagement within the category.
  6. Continuously monitor and adjust inventory levels to meet demand and minimize excess stock.
  7. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, supply chain, and finance, to ensure successful implementation of category strategies.
  8. Identify and propose new product opportunities and innovations to drive growth within the category.
  9. Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to identify potential risks and opportunities.
  10. Participate in regular category performance reviews and provide insights and recommendations for improvement.
  11. Support the Category Manager in managing and developing a team of associates to achieve department goals and objectives.
  12. Adhere to company policies and procedures, including pricing, merchandising, and inventory management guidelines.
  13. Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service when interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
  14. Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness within the category.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Business Administration, Marketing, Or A Related Field

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Category Management Or Merchandising, Preferably In The Retail Industry

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills, With The Ability To Interpret And Use Data To Drive Business Decisions

  • Excellent Communication And Negotiation Skills, With The Ability To Build And Maintain Relationships With Vendors And Internal Stakeholders

  • Proficiency In Microsoft Excel And Other Data Analysis Tools, As Well As Experience Working With Category Management Software Such As Jda Or Nielsen
