
Optical Scientist
We’re looking for an experienced Optical Scientist to join Corning’s talented team of researchers and engineers. At Corning, we always strive to be the best in the industry, so we’re looking for an Optical Scientist who is passionate about pushing the boundaries of possibility with optical engineering.The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated and creative problem solver who is knowledgeable in the field of optics and photonics. We’re looking for someone with a comprehensive understanding of optical design principles, optical materials, optical fabrication and testing, and the ability to apply this knowledge to develop new optical systems and components. The successful candidate will be a highly organized, detail-oriented professional with a commitment to excellence and strong interpersonal skills.To be considered for this role, you should have a Master’s degree in optical engineering or a related field and a minimum of three years of experience in an optical engineering role. Previous experience in research and development, as well as knowledge of optical simulation software, would be a strong asset.If you’re an innovative thinker who is excited by the challenge of developing new optical systems and components, we’d love to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
- Develop innovative optical systems and components based on optical design principles, optical materials, optical fabrication and testing.
- Perform comprehensive research and development activities related to optical engineering.
- Utilize optical simulation software to create prototypes, analyze data, and troubleshoot problems.
- Collaborate with other researchers and engineers in the development of new technologies.
- Keep up to date on advancements in the field of optics and photonics.
- Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and other documents to communicate progress and findings.
- Maintain a high level of organization and attention to detail.
- Provide technical guidance and support to other members of the team.
