  1. Develop and implement accounting policies and practices that align with business objectives.
  2. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
  3. Lead the technical accounting function and oversee the work of technical accounting staff.
  4. Provide guidance and expertise on complex accounting issues.
  5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  6. Stay up-to-date on changes in accounting standards and regulations.
  7. Conduct research and analysis to support accounting decisions.
  8. Communicate technical accounting matters to senior management and other stakeholders.
  9. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the technical accounting function.
  10. Manage relationships with external auditors and ensure timely completion of audits.
  11. Train and develop technical accounting staff.
  12. Adhere to internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  13. Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed.
  14. Serve as a subject matter expert on technical accounting matters.
  15. Represent the company in meetings with investors, analysts, and other external parties.
  16. Monitor and evaluate emerging accounting issues and provide recommendations for their impact on the company.
  17. Proactively address potential accounting risks and make recommendations to mitigate them.
  18. Collaborate with other finance and accounting teams to ensure cohesive and accurate financial reporting.
  19. Lead and manage the preparation of technical accounting memos and other documentation.
  20. Maintain a high level of professionalism and represent the company's values and culture in all interactions.

Job Qualifications
  • Expert Knowledge Of Accounting Principles And Standards: As A Director Of Technical Accounting At Corning, The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Deep Understanding Of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (Gaap) And International Financial Reporting Standards (Ifrs). They Should Also Be Familiar With Relevant Regulatory Requirements And Have Experience In Applying Technical Accounting Guidelines.

  • Extensive Experience In Technical Accounting: The Candidate Should Have At Least 7-10 Years Of Experience In Technical Accounting, Preferably In A Large Publicly-Traded Company Or A Big 4 Accounting Firm. They Should Have A Track Record Of Successfully Resolving Complex Accounting Issues And Providing Guidance To Stakeholders On Technical Matters.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills: This Role Requires A Candidate Who Can Critically Analyze Complex Financial Data And Identify Potential Accounting Issues Or Discrepancies. They Should Also Have The Ability To Develop And Implement Effective Solutions To Address These Issues.

  • Excellent Communication And Leadership Skills: As A Director Of Technical Accounting, The Candidate Will Be Required To Communicate Complex Accounting Concepts And Technical Guidance To Cross-Functional Teams, Including Senior Management. Therefore, Strong Communication Skills And The Ability To Lead And Influence Others Are Essential Qualifications For This Role.

  • Advanced Degree And Professional Certifications: A Bachelor's Degree In Accounting Or Finance Is A Minimum Requirement For This Role. However, A Master's Degree In Accounting Or A Related Field, Such As Finance Or Business Administration, Is Preferred. Additionally, Having A Certified Public Accountant (Cpa) Or Chartered Financial Analyst (Cfa) Certification Is Highly Desirable For This Position.
