Job Description

CommonSpirit Health is seeking an experienced and skilled Corporate Counsel to join our dynamic legal team. In this role, you will provide legal counsel and advice on a wide range of legal and regulatory matters across the entire organization. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized and detail-oriented professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.To be successful in this role, you must possess a Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law in the state of California. You must also have a minimum of five years of experience in a corporate, transactional, or healthcare legal setting. Moreover, you should have a comprehensive knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations, including HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid, Stark and Anti-Kickback laws. Preference will be given to candidates who have a strong background in transactions, corporate governance, healthcare compliance, and data privacy.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide legal counsel and advice on a wide range of legal and regulatory matters related to healthcare compliance and data privacy.
  2. Develop and implement legal strategies to protect CommonSpirit Health’s interests and maintain compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  3. Manage, review, and revise contractual agreements, corporate documents, and other legal documents.
  4. Monitor legal developments in the healthcare industry to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  5. Conduct research and provide legal opinions on healthcare and data privacy matters.
  6. Maintain records and communication with outside counsel and regulatory agencies.
  7. Develop and deliver training programs to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
  8. Prepare reports and review legal documents for accuracy and completeness.
  9. Manage legal team members and provide guidance and direction when necessary.
  10. Represent CommonSpirit Health in legal proceedings, when necessary.
