As a Material Developer, you will play a crucial role in researching, sourcing, and developing materials that will make a significant impact on our product line.   1. Research and Source Materials: Conduct thorough research on new and innovative materials that align with the company's product development goals. This includes staying up-to-date on industry trends and market demands.
  2. Develop Materials: Work closely with the design and development teams to create and develop materials that meet the company's quality standards and design aesthetic.
  3. Evaluate Material Properties: Conduct extensive testing and analysis of materials to ensure they meet the required standards for durability, performance, and sustainability.
  4. Collaborate with Suppliers: Build and maintain strong relationships with material suppliers to negotiate pricing, lead times, and ensure timely delivery of materials. Continuously evaluate and assess supplier performance to ensure the highest quality materials are being utilized.
  5. Monitor Material Costs: Keep track of material costs and make recommendations on cost-saving measures without compromising on quality.
  6. Maintain Material Library: Organize and maintain a comprehensive library of materials, including technical data sheets and samples, for easy reference and access by the design and development teams.
  7. Ensure Compliance: Stay up-to-date on industry regulations and standards to ensure all materials used meet safety and environmental requirements.
  8. Coordinate with Cross-functional Teams: Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as design, production, and marketing to ensure materials align with product development goals and brand image.
  9. Drive Innovation: Continuously seek out new and innovative materials that can be utilized in the company's product line, bringing fresh ideas and concepts to the table.
  10. Manage Material Development Timeline: Work closely with the product development team to manage the material development timeline, ensuring materials are sourced and developed in a timely and efficient manner.
  11. Maintain Records: Keep detailed records of all materials, including sourcing information, testing results, and specifications.
  12. Attend Trade Shows and Conferences: Represent the company at trade shows and conferences to network with suppliers, stay current on industry developments, and gather inspiration for new materials.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Textile Engineering, Materials Science, Or Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience In Materials Development For Outdoor Apparel And Gear.

  • In-Depth Knowledge Of Textile Materials And Their Properties, Including Performance Characteristics And Sustainability.

  • Proficiency In Cad Software And Ability To Create Technical Specifications And Material Testing Procedures.

  • Strong Communication And Collaboration Skills, With The Ability To Work Closely With Design, Sourcing, And Production Teams To Develop Innovative And High-Quality Materials.
