  1. Dispensing Medications: The Specialty Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for accurately and efficiently dispensing medications to patients, following all necessary protocols and safety measures.
  2. Prescription Processing: This individual will be responsible for receiving and processing prescription orders, verifying patient information, and ensuring the correct medications and dosages are dispensed.
  3. Inventory Management: The Specialty Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for maintaining inventory levels, ordering medications and supplies as needed, and properly organizing and storing medications within the pharmacy.
  4. Patient Education: The individual in this role will be responsible for educating patients on their medications, including dosage instructions, potential side effects, and proper storage and handling.
  5. Insurance Coordination: The Specialty Pharmacy Technician will work closely with insurance companies to verify coverage, process claims, and ensure timely payment for medications.
  6. Quality Control: This individual will be responsible for performing quality control checks on medications and equipment, ensuring that all medications are properly labeled and stored, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  7. Collaboration: The Specialty Pharmacy Technician will work closely with other members of the healthcare team, including pharmacists, physicians, and nurses, to ensure the best possible care for patients.
  8. Compliance: The individual in this role will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations, as well as Cleveland Clinic's policies and procedures.
  9. Continuous Learning: The Specialty Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for staying up-to-date on new medications, therapies, and procedures, and attending relevant training and educational opportunities.

Job Qualifications
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma And Certification As A Pharmacy Technician Is Required For This Position. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Strong Foundation In Pharmacy Operations And Is Familiar With Industry Regulations And Best Practices.

  • Experience In Specialty Pharmacy: Candidates Should Have At Least 2-3 Years Of Experience Working In A Specialty Pharmacy Setting.
