  1. Collect blood samples from patients using proper techniques and equipment.
  2. Perform a variety of lab tests, including but not limited to, hematology, chemistry, and microbiology.
  3. Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all procedures and results.
  4. Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure patient safety and prevent contamination.
  5. Follow all safety protocols and procedures when handling and disposing of hazardous materials.
  6. Communicate effectively with patients to provide a comfortable and positive experience during blood collection.
  7. Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient and accurate patient care.
  8. Use critical thinking skills to troubleshoot and resolve any issues or discrepancies in test results.
  9. Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  10. Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current with best practices and new technologies in phlebotomy.
  11. Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment, and report any maintenance or supply needs to the appropriate personnel.
  12. Continuously monitor and maintain quality control measures to ensure accurate test results.
  13. Provide excellent customer service and address any patient concerns or questions.
  14. Act as a positive role model for coworkers and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
  15. Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of Cleveland Clinic and the healthcare industry as a whole.

Job Qualifications
  • Certification: Candidates Should Possess A Current Certification As A Phlebotomy Technician From A Recognized Accrediting Organization, Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or National Healthcareer Association (Nha).

  • Education And Training: A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Required, As Well As Completion Of An Accredited Phlebotomy Training Program. Additional Training In Cpr, Infection Control, And Hipaa May Also Be Required.

  • Experience: At Least 1-2 Years Of Experience As A Phlebotomy Technician In A Hospital Or Healthcare Setting Is Preferred. Candidates Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Phlebotomy Techniques, Safety Protocols, And Equipment Operation.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency In Using Phlebotomy Equipment, Such As Needles, Tubes, And Venipuncture Supplies, Is Essential. Candidates Should Also Have Basic Computer Skills And Be Able To Accurately Record And Enter Patient Information.

  • Interpersonal Skills: The Ability To Communicate Effectively With Patients And Healthcare Professionals Is Crucial In This Role. Candidates Should Demonstrate Empathy, Professionalism, And The Ability To Work Well In A Team Environment. Additionally, Attention To Detail And The Ability To Multitask In A Fast-Paced Environment Are Important Qualities For A Phlebotomy Technician.
