- Prepare and maintain surgical instruments and equipment according to established protocols and guidelines.
- Ensuring the cleanliness and sterility of all surgical instruments and equipment.
- Inspect and test instruments and equipment for proper functioning and report any defects or malfunctions.
- Collaborate with surgical team to anticipate instrument and equipment needs for upcoming procedures.
- Maintain accurate inventory of instruments and equipment and assist with ordering and restocking as needed.
- Follow strict infection control protocols to prevent the spread of infections and maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
- Keep updated on new techniques and technologies related to instrument and equipment management.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols to ensure the well-being of patients and staff.
- Maintain documentation of instrument and equipment usage, sterilization processes, and any incidents or issues.
- Assist with training and mentoring new technicians and providing support to other team members as needed.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude while working with patients, staff, and colleagues.
- Participate in quality control and improvement initiatives to ensure the highest level of patient care.
- Remain knowledgeable about industry trends and advancements in surgical instrument and equipment management.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Act as a positive representative of the Cleveland Clinic and uphold our commitment to exceptional patient care and medical research.
Certification: The Candidate Must Possess A Valid Certification As A Certified Central Service Technician (Cst) Or Certified Sterile Processing And Distribution Technician (Cspdt) From An Accredited Organization Such As The International Association Of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (Iahcsmm) Or The Certification Board For Sterile Processing And Distribution (Cbspd).
Experience: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Central Sterile Processing Department (Cspd) Or Surgical Instrument Processing Department (Sipd) In A Hospital Or Healthcare Setting.
Knowledge Of General Surgery Instruments And Procedures: The Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of General Surgery Instruments, Their Functions, And The Various Procedures They Are Used For. This Includes Knowledge Of Decontamination, Disinfection, Sterilization, And Storage Of These Instruments.
Attention To Detail: The Candidate Must Possess Excellent Attention To Detail To Ensure That Instruments Are Properly Cleaned, Sterilized, And Maintained According To Established Guidelines And Protocols. This Is Crucial For Preventing Infections And Ensuring Patient Safety.
Communication And Teamwork: As A Certified Cs/Spd Technician, The Candidate Will Be Working Closely With Surgeons, Nurses, And Other Healthcare Professionals. Therefore, Strong Communication Skills And The Ability To Work Effectively As Part Of A Team Are Essential For This Role. The Candidate Should Also Be Able To Follow Instructions And Work Well Under Pressure In A Fast-Paced Environment.
