- Perform quality assurance checks on all equipment and procedures related to radiation therapy, ensuring accuracy and safety for patients.
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with oncologists and other medical professionals, using advanced technology and techniques.
- Conduct routine and specialized radiation measurements, calculations and data analysis to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of treatments.
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory and safety standards set by local, state, and federal agencies.
- Train and supervise radiation therapy staff, ensuring that all procedures and protocols are followed correctly and efficiently.
- Collaborate with medical physicists, radiation therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive and individualized care for each patient.
- Participate in research and development projects to improve treatment methods and advance the field of radiation oncology.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all procedures, treatment plans, and patient records.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing education and support throughout their treatment process.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements and best practices in radiation oncology, attending conferences and continuing education opportunities as needed.
Education And Training: A Minimum Of A Master's Degree In Medical Physics Or A Related Field Is Required, With A Specialization In Radiation Oncology Physics. Previous Experience In A Similar Role Is Preferred.
Certification: The Candidate Must Be Certified By The American Board Of Radiology In Therapeutic Medical Physics Or Equivalent Certification From A Recognized National Board.
Knowledge Of Radiation Oncology Equipment: The Candidate Must Possess A Thorough Understanding Of All Radiation Therapy Equipment, Including Linear Accelerators, Brachytherapy Machines, And Treatment Planning Systems.
Quality Assurance Skills: The Candidate Must Have Experience In Quality Assurance Procedures, Including Machine Calibration, Patient Safety, And Dose Calculation Verification.
Communication And Teamwork: Excellent Communication Skills Are Essential For This Role, As The Radiation Oncology Physicist Will Work Closely With A Multidisciplinary Team Of Physicians, Therapists, And Medical Physicists To Provide The Best Possible Treatment For Cancer Patients. The Ability To Collaborate And Work Effectively In A Team Setting Is Crucial.
