
Deputy City Attorney

- Provide legal counsel and guidance to City officials and departments on a wide range of municipal law matters.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support decision-making processes and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Draft and review legal documents, including contracts, ordinances, resolutions, and policies.
- Represent the City in legal proceedings, including court hearings and negotiations.
- Advise on potential legal risks and provide recommendations for mitigating them.
- Collaborate with other members of the legal department and City staff to develop and implement legal strategies.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in laws and regulations relevant to the City and provide guidance on their implications.
- Manage and maintain legal records and documents.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including government officials, community members, and outside counsel.
- Promote a culture of ethical and legal compliance within the City.
- Participate in departmental and City-wide meetings and trainings.
- Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to legal matters.
- Provide support and guidance to subordinate staff, as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and procedures within the legal department.
Juris Doctor (Jd) Degree From An Accredited Law School
Active Membership In The California State Bar
Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience Practicing Law, With A Focus On Municipal Law Or Government Law
Strong Knowledge And Understanding Of Local, State, And Federal Laws And Regulations
Excellent Communication, Negotiation, And Problem-Solving Skills.
