Job Description

Are you passionate about aquatic activities and have a desire to share your knowledge with others? The City of Stockton is seeking a highly motivated and responsible individual to join our team as an Aquatics Assistant. As an Aquatics Assistant, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the community by assisting in the operation and maintenance of our city's pools and aquatic facilities. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, customer service-oriented, and a team player.   1. Assist in the daily operation and maintenance of city pools and aquatic facilities.
  2. Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons and ensure a positive experience for all visitors.
  3. Demonstrate a strong knowledge and passion for aquatic activities and be able to effectively teach and guide others.
  4. Collaborate with other team members to ensure a safe and clean environment for all pool and facility users.
  5. Enforce all safety rules and regulations to ensure the well-being of all guests.
  6. Assist in the planning and execution of aquatic programs and events.
  7. Maintain accurate records and reports of pool usage and incidents.
  8. Assist in the training and supervision of lifeguards and other staff members.
  9. Ensure all equipment and supplies are properly maintained and stocked.
  10. Continuously evaluate and identify areas for improvement in the aquatics program.
  11. Act as a positive role model for all patrons and promote a welcoming and inclusive environment.
  12. Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at all times.
  13. Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in aquatics.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Job Qualifications
  • Lifeguarding Certification: The Candidate Should Possess A Valid Lifeguarding Certification From A Reputable Organization Such As The American Red Cross Or The Ymca. This Ensures That The Candidate Has The Necessary Skills To Ensure The Safety Of Swimmers And Can Handle Emergency Situations Effectively.

  • Cpr And First Aid Certification: The Candidate Should Also Have A Current Cpr And First Aid Certification. This Is Essential For Providing Immediate Assistance In Case Of Accidents Or Medical Emergencies.

  • Experience In Aquatic Programs: The Candidate Should Have Prior Experience Working With Aquatic Programs, Preferably In A Municipal Setting. This Includes Experience In Teaching Swim Lessons, Organizing Aquatic Events, And Maintaining Pool Equipment.

  • Knowledge Of Pool Maintenance: The Candidate Should Have A Good Understanding Of Pool Maintenance Procedures And Chemicals Used In Pool Maintenance. This Includes Proper Water Chemistry, Filtration, And Cleaning Techniques To Ensure A Safe And Clean Swimming Environment.

  • Customer Service Skills: The Candidate Should Possess Excellent Customer Service Skills As They Will Be Interacting With The Public On A Daily Basis. This Includes The Ability To Communicate Effectively, Resolve Conflicts, And Handle Difficult Situations With Patience And Professionalism.
